Updating HDL Ripper

Learn how to update HDL Ripper for your operating system and processor architecture, and review what changed.

Check for an update

Open the Updates panel in the HDL Ripper desktop app to check for a newer version. The app also checks when it starts and periodically while it is running.

When an update is available, the app downloads it in the background and verifies its signature before making it available to install.

Save your work before installing. When the update is ready, choose Install and restart in the update panel. A background check or download does not restart the app.

You can also download the latest installer for your platform and follow the installation instructions.

Understand verification and failures

The updater verifies the downloaded update’s signature using the publisher’s public key built into the app. If verification fails, that download cannot be installed.

Compare your downloaded installer’s SHA-256 checksum with the checksum on the download page to check that the files match. A checksum is not an update signature and does not establish Authenticode signing, Developer ID signing or Apple notarization.

If checking, downloading or signature verification fails, keep using the installed version and retry from the update panel. Do not install a download that failed verification.

If installation fails and the app is still open, save your work. Keep a separate copy of your project before trying again, then use the latest compatible installer and follow the installation instructions.

Preview limitations by platform

HDL Ripper is an experimental preview. A published download is not a claim of production readiness; check the notes and limitations for the particular version and platform.

The published Windows preview is not Authenticode-signed. Native Windows installation and interactive use have not been verified in the published release evidence.

The published macOS previews are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID-signed or notarized. Native installation and headless simulation were checked, but native interactive use and app-driven update installation remain unverified.
